IESE Business School “A new paradigm for the “Bottom of the Pyramid”: corporate – entrepreneurship partnerships for customer, market and portfolio development” Project

Theme: “Social Entrepreneurs as Competitors and Partners in Global Markets”

Practicioners Workshop, Monday 19 September 2005, Barcelona
Anselmo Rubiralta Center for Globalization and Strategy, 11am - 5.30pm

All EABIS members are warmly invited to participate in the first workshop to explore strategic insights from IESE’s research project as part of the EABIS corporate funded project led by IESE Business School.

The Focus of the Day

  • Discuss the strategic opportunities and challenges for corporations of emerging socio-economic developments in poor countries
  • How to operationalize the notion of sustainable development to inform corporate action
  • Look at innovative business models of entrepreneurs that create new customers, markets and offerings in collaboration with corporations
  • Learn how to discover and analyze such models
  • Identify elements that are of relevance in formulating business strategies at the BOP: resources, capabilities and governance structures
  • Discuss with EABIS’ corporate members core areas of interest to inform IESE’s future research direction and focus

The Project
The research project is an extension of IESE’s earlier studies on social entrepreneurship in developing countries and the role these entrepreneurs play in contributing to sustainable socio-economic development. In the course of this research IESE have found new collaborative models of social entrepreneurs with the private sector that were able to successfully combine both social and economic value creation. Some of these models have reached scales that generate significant shareholder returns as well as social returns for local communities and whole countries.

Who Should Attend?

  • All EABIS corporate members interested in innovative business models in emerging markets and how to think strategically about the BOP
  • Corporate and academic EABIS members interested in BOP and social entrepreneurship to share insights and contribute to the collective learning experience
  • Representatives of EABIS member organisations interested in or involved in development issues

    How Do I Register?
