EABIS Calendar of Events

Now that EABIS’ portfolio of projects on research, education and training on corporate responsibility is well established, there are a number of associated events that will take place over the next 12 months. To ensure that members are fully aware of future events and how they can get involved, we have developed a calendar for the coming year outlining what is happening, where and when.

To view the latest version of the calendar, please click here.

We look forward to seeing many EABIS members at these events as they are a fantastic opportunity for members to network, learn and exchange with each other on critical issues on corporate responsibility.

Description/object of the call for proposals:
The European Commission has recently launched a number of Marie Curie Calls as part of the Human resources and mobility activity area. All open calls can be viewed here. Focus of this message is on the Research Training Network (FP6-2005-Mobility-1).

The Marie Curie Research Training Networks provide training and research experience for researchers of any age or nationality by giving them the opportunity to spend between three months to three years in another country as part of an international high-quality research project. The networks contribute to the transfer of knowledge through the promotion of multidisciplinary research. The schemes also support the interaction and exchange of all research staff working on the project.

The size of the network varies according to the nature of the research activity, but will involve at least three partners from three different countries.

Marie Curie Research Training Networks Universities, research centres, enterprises and international organisations in an EU or Associated State or any other country of the world making up the proposed network apply together to the European Commission for funding. The Commission then selects the successful proposals and signs a contract with the research institutions involved.

This action concentrates on measures to support the organisation of coherent series of training courses and/or conferences with a specific training value, as well as the funding of the participation of eligible researchers in these events.

EBEN Annual Conference 2005 [www.eben2005.de]

The German Business Ethics Network (DNWE, EBEN-Germany) is to host the EBEN annual conference 2005 in Bonn, September 22nd - 24th. In the frame of "State, Business, Stakeholders – Ethical Perspectives on Balacing Business and Public Interests" the debate on shifting responsibilities in global competition between the State and the Economy shall be promoted.

Are corporations simply good or bad guys? Is the market simply good or bad? Is the state efficient or generally inefficient? On which criteria can judgments be orientated? To which extent can corporations underline their social, ecological or political responsibility? Where are limits of CSR in global competition? Where does state authority have to take measures of shaping markets and how? To which extent arise new forms of leadership to enhance public interests? New Balances have to be developed on how to define the role of business in society, the role of markets in globalisation, the need for both economic and ethical competences.
